"Recently, the nice folk at Inside Out Portree Outdoor Retailer gave me a pack of Trek n' Eat Chicken Curry to try. The one thing that Richard asked me to do was try the food out on a proper expedition and not at home with my feet up and a dram beside me!
The ideal opportunity came last week when myself and my sister in law, Sheena Davies, spend six days in the Great Glen - three days kayaking the canoe trail from Fortwilliam to Inverness and three days returning via the cycle/walking route on bikes. After a great few days on the water we arrived at Dochgarroch Lock where we had the bikes stashed, quickly changed into cycling mode (felt like Mr Ben in the children's TV series for those of you a similar age to me) then set out on the steep climb up to Abriachan. The photo is of our fantastic wild camp high above Loch Ness. So, ready for dinner the water boiling on my stove, I followed the instructions on the packet - tear, fill with water, stir, leave to sit, eat. The packet contained almost 1000kcal of lovely aromatic curry, with a great citrius zing. The meal was really easy to prepare, no dishes to wash, in fact the packaging was burnt on the grand open fire that evening, dram indeed in hand. All in all a great product, but one I shall be keeping for the big trips/emergency meal. Thanks guys, have a great Summer!" Alistair Watt - April 2019
